Vancouver, Aug. 24th, 2023

Yiyang Wang’s report, “Metro Vancouver Regional Park Visitor Travel Study: Research to Understand Factors Influencing Travel Mode Decisions to Access Regional Parks” has been recently released in the Sustainability Scholar Open Library. This report aims to explore transportation choices and hurdles faced by visitors to regional parks in Metro Vancouver. The overarching goal is to promote a shift towards sustainable travel preferences. The comprehensive report extends diverse recommendations to the Metro Vancouver authorities, spanning across design, service enhancement, and innovative programming initiatives. Encompassing factors like last-mile connections, bicycle facilities, seamless intermodal transfers, and accessibility services, these proposals intend to provide a holistic approach to address the drawbacks of accessing parks through private vehicles, such as limited parking, environmental concerns, and equity issues. Through this strategic synergy of sustainable practices, the report aspires to not only enrich access to nature but also elevate the overall quality of life for the park users in Metro Vancouver.
